Frequently Asked Questions

What type of projects do you take on?
House Iconic works on residential interiors at every stage: full home renovations, extensions, new builds, furnishing projects, room refreshes, bespoke joinery, window treatments, headboards and styling.
Whether you are making major structural decisions or simply want a finished room to feel more cohesive, the service is tailored to the level of support you need.

When should I bring an interior designer into my project?
The earlier, the better.
For renovations, extensions and new builds, involving an interior designer before works begin helps resolve layouts, lighting positions, joinery, finishes and practical details before they become expensive to change.
For furnishing projects, we can begin once the room dimensions, existing pieces and overall budget are clear.

Do you work on one room at a time?
Yes. A single-room design service is ideal when you need help with layout, colour, furniture, lighting, rugs, window treatments and the finishing layers that make a space feel complete.
For larger projects, a full-home approach helps ensure every room connects properly and decisions are made in the right order.

What is included in an interior design service?
The exact scope depends on the project, but may include:

  • Space planning and furniture layouts

  • Interior concept and visual direction

  • Paint, flooring, tile and material selections

  • Lighting plans and decorative lighting

  • Furniture, rugs, artwork and accessories

  • Bespoke joinery and furniture design

  • Window treatments, upholstery and headboards

  • Detailed sourcing schedules and shopping links

  • Trade, supplier and installation guidance where required

Every project begins with an agreed scope, so you know exactly what is included before work starts.

Can you work with my existing furniture or family pieces?
Absolutely. The best homes rarely begin from scratch.
Existing furniture, artwork, heirlooms and sentimental pieces can be incorporated where they suit the overall scheme. During the initial consultation, we will identify what is worth retaining, reupholstering, refinishing or relocating.

Do you offer virtual interior design?
Yes. Virtual design services are available throughout Ireland and the UK.
This is a great option for clients who are comfortable sharing photographs, videos and measurements, and who would like a complete design direction, layout guidance and a curated sourcing list without on-site meetings.

Do you only work in Dublin?
On-site consultations and larger projects are primarily based in Dublin and surrounding areas. Virtual services are available nationwide and throughout the UK.
For projects further afield, travel can be discussed as part of the initial enquiry.

Do you offer consultations before committing to a full project?
Yes. An on-site consultation is a useful starting point if you need professional clarity before deciding on a larger design service.
It is an opportunity to discuss your home, priorities, layout challenges, ideas, budget and the best next step. The consultation can be booked online for €300.

How much does interior design cost?
Design fees are based on the size of the project, level of detail required and the support needed throughout the process.
Following an initial conversation or consultation, you will receive a clear proposal outlining the recommended scope, fee, deliverables and payment schedule. Design fees are separate from the cost of furniture, materials, trades and installation.

What budget do I need?
There is no single figure, but having a realistic furnishing or renovation budget helps us create a scheme that can be delivered properly.
At the start of the project, we will discuss your priorities and where it makes sense to invest. The aim is always to create a home that feels considered, personal and lasting—not to fill it with unnecessary pieces.

Can you source furniture, lighting and finishes for me?
Yes. House Iconic can source furniture, lighting, finishes, fabrics, rugs, artwork, accessories and bespoke pieces.
Depending on your service, you may receive a detailed specification schedule with supplier links, or House Iconic can provide additional procurement support to manage ordering, lead times, deliveries and supplier communication.

Do you receive trade discounts?
Trade discounts vary by supplier. Where a discount is available, this is discussed clearly as part of the proposal and procurement arrangement.
Our priority is always sourcing the right piece for the project, rather than limiting the design to a particular supplier.

Do you work with builders and trades?
Yes. House Iconic has a trusted network of trades and suppliers and can work alongside your builder, architect, kitchen supplier, joiner or contractor.
The level of trade coordination depends on the service selected. For renovation projects, clear drawings, schedules and early decisions help everyone work from the same direction.

Do you provide technical drawings?
Where required, we can provide furniture layouts, joinery elevations, lighting guidance and key design drawings to support the build.
Architectural, structural and engineering drawings must be prepared by the appropriate qualified professional.

How long does the design process take?
A single-room project usually takes a few weeks from consultation to final presentation. Larger renovation and full-home projects take longer, depending on the number of rooms, construction programme, level of bespoke detail and decision-making process.
A realistic timeline will be set out in your proposal before work begins.

How involved will I need to be?
The process is collaborative, but it should not feel overwhelming.
You will be involved in the important decisions: approving the overall direction, reviewing key selections and sharing your priorities. House Iconic will bring structure to the process, narrow down the options and ensure each decision works as part of the bigger picture.

How do I get started?
Complete the New Project Form with a little information about your home, your plans, approximate budget and timing.
From there, we can determine the most suitable service and arrange an initial consultation or discovery call.
